It gives you solid electrical contact, holds firm mechanically, and matches the sockets already used on process lines. Put it together with the quartz envelope, and you get a lamp that’s meant to be a direct replacement for machines already set up for this geometry. A heads-up: quartz is tough, but it’s still glass. It can crack if it’s shocked or bent. Always handle it by the base during installation, and never pry against the tube.
