Getting the Most Out of Your 220V 2000W Carbon Fiber Heating Lamps
We built these lamps for the tough jobs—the kind of high-output infrared heating where standard metal filaments just give up or can’t hit the right heat profile. At 220V and 2000W, these things pack a serious punch. They’re designed to blast heat onto a surface and get it hot, fast. A word of caution on the power. 2000W is a heavy lift for your electrical circuit. Before you flip the switch, double-check your wiring and contactors. If they aren’t rated for this kind of load, your terminals will overheat, and that’s a headache you don’t want. Inside, we swapped out tungsten for carbon fiber. Why? Because carbon fiber can take the heat. It also changes how the energy moves, pushing more into that medium-to-long wave infrared range. In plain English: the heat actually sinks deeper into your materials instead of just bouncing off the surface like those quartz lamps do. The build and the “gotchas” The element sits inside a high-purity quartz tube. We use quartz because it’s basically invisible to infrared radiation—it lets the heat fly right through without soaking it up. But here’s the thing: carbon fiber is tough, but it hates being shaken. If you’re mounting these on a machine that vibrates or rattles,**please use dampened mounts.**If you don’t, the filament can snap, and you’ll be replacing the lamp way sooner than you should. Putting them to work We mostly see these in curing ovens, drying lines, or for shaping plastics. Since they hit 2000W, they ramp up almost instantly. It means you aren’t sitting around waiting for the machine to warm up, which saves you a lot of wasted energy during those stop-and-start cycles. One last tip before you fire them up:keep the glass clean. Seriously. Avoid getting oils or fingerprints on that quartz tube. Once those lamps hit temperature, any smudge or grease bakes onto the glass. This creates “hot spots,” and those hot spots will crack your tube. Grab a clean cloth and some isopropyl alcohol, give them a quick wipe, and you’re good to go.
