
Let’s Talk About the SK15 Carbon Fiber Lamp
If you’ve spent any time in a paint booth, you know the frustration of waiting around for clear coats to cure. That’s where the SK15 comes in. Instead of those old-school quartz halogen tubes, we went with a carbon fiber filament wrapped in quartz. Why? Because it hits different. It creates a wider spectrum of heat that actually sinks deep into the paint layers rather than just scorching the surface. The heat is intense. We designed these to pack a punch in a small area. The SK15 connector is solid, too—no worrying about sparks or electrical arcs when you’re cranking up the wattage. It pushes IR energy straight into the panel, which means solvents flash off way faster. Your cycle times drop. You get cars out the door quicker. Just a heads-up: because it’s so powerful, keep an eye on your distance. Get too close, and you’ll risk scorching that perfect clear coat. Why carbon fiber? Tungsten is okay, but carbon fiber handles the heat-and-cool cycle much better. It doesn’t expand and contract as violently, so you aren’t dealing with burnt-out filaments nearly as often. Plus, we made the SK15 a drop-in replacement. You can usually just plug it into your existing professional rig without having to rip apart your chassis or rewire the whole shop. We also used a specific type of quartz glass that lets the heat fly right through instead of trapping it inside the tube. Real-world use in the shop The goal is simple: you want the primer to get hot without boiling the topcoat. The SK15 finds that sweet spot. It clears out your booth faster, which is basically making more money. One last thing—if you’re clustering these lamps together, make sure your fans are actually working. If the air stays stagnant, the lamps will overheat and die early. Keep the air moving, and these things will treat you right.
