
Let’s talk about our 500mm 700W Carbon Lamps
Ever had a project where you need the heat to actually sink in without torching the top layer? That’s exactly why we built these medium-wave lamps. Instead of using the usual tungsten wire, we went with a carbon filament. It changes the way the heat hits the material. It doesn’t just sit on the surface; it soaks deep into the substrate.
Getting the heat right
We’ve balanced 700W over a 500mm length. Why? Because it gives you a steady, even glow. No weird hot spots to worry about. It’s perfect when you need the temperature to climb gradually rather than hitting it with a shock. But a quick word of warning:**don’t try to cheat the system.**If you crank up the voltage past the limit just to get more heat, you’ll probably fry the filament. Just keep your controllers tuned to the rated wattage, and these things will last you a long time.
Why carbon?
Here is the cool part. Carbon emitters run a bit cooler than those short-wave halogen lamps. That makes a huge difference in the real world. If your workspace is a bit dusty or there’s some moisture in the air, these lamps don’t care. Short-wave energy often just bounces off that stuff, but medium-wave pushes right through. Plus, the quartz envelope keeps the filament safe without blocking the heat.
The trade-offs
These are pretty easy to swap into most medium-wave setups. You can hook them up to your standard PID controllers and you’re good to go. But, there is one thing to keep in mind. They aren’t “instant-on.” Carbon takes a little longer to warm up than short-wave tubes. If your process needs a flash of heat in a split second, these might not be your best bet. But for steady drying, curing, or pre-heating?They’re the perfect tool for the job.
